The OCGS board met recently at the home of the new president, Irvin Rabideau. Much was accomplished during the meeting. The board voted to move our meeting location to the Kilgour Scottish Centre of the St. Andrews Society, 2360 Rochester Ct.,Troy Mi 48083 (Off Rochester Road, just south of Big Beaver). The parking convenient and the entrance assessable. The location is just south of the Rochester Road exit off I-75. This decision was necessary due to stipulations in the Troy Community Center Contract requiring 75% of our membership be Troy residents. We are looking forward to using the excellent facilities at the Kilgour Centre.
Our first meeting for next year will be help night, on October first at 7:00, during which we will have an increased emphasis on beginners. During our last help night, many of the tables had beginners who needed assistance. Since one-on-one help can really give a beginning genealogist a boost, if you can help that evening, please reply to this e-mail. You will be contacted later. The Society will provide beginner help sheets, family group sheets and 5 generation pedigree charts, WiFi will be available.

Be on the lookout for the new and returning genealogy shows on commercial and cable TV. The Society has received a second notice soliciting local participants in a PBS show entitled, "The Genealogy Road Show". There will be a taping in Detroit in July, so watch for information on that.

Have a great summer of research. Check our Facebook page for on-going genealogical notes and information. When we find information about "free" days on various pay sites we post it there, along with anything else of interest to Michigan researchers. Feel free to post yourself, if you have something Michigan genealogists will be interested in.
